GSR is CreaseScout’s proprietary performance metric that measures how well a goalie performs relative to the difficulty of shots they face.

Why Not Just Use Save Percentage?

Save percentage treats every shot equally. A point-blank shot from 5 yards and a lazy floater from 20 yards both count the same. GSR knows the difference.

What GSR Measures

Shot Distance

Close-range bullets vs. distant floaters — the strongest driver of shot difficulty, weighted by a model calibrated on real charted outcomes

Shot Difficulty

Every save and goal is weighted by how hard that shot actually is — a tough stop is worth more than an easy one

Verified Sample

Ratings are computed live from film-reviewed, fully charted shots — never estimated, never stored stale

Honest Confidence

Every rating carries its sample size and a confidence badge, so a hot streak never reads like a season
